Junior Maintenance Technician

The Junior Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general production equipment, property, and building maintenance. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties within a production environment to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for maintaining, and executing a rigorous Preventative Maintenance program for all the production machines and lines
  • Responsible for maintaining, and executing a rigorous Routine Maintenance program for all the production machines and lines
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install, relocate, and maintain production machines and the facility’s general equipment
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production machines and facility equipment
  • Coordinate with machine and facility contractors to support repairs, inspections, or Preventative Maintenance
  • Assist in production line setups and configurations, support project for documentation of production line setups
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and additional troubleshooting
  • Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust equipment
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain various electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventative maintenance program and departmental procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.


  • High school diploma/GED Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and Maintenance experience
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Knowledge of 110v up to and including 600v systems and equipment a plus
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation a plus
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal direction.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

Working Conditions

  • 24/7 availability may be required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75lb
  • Travel to the site, and off-site locations will be required
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
