Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s overall logistics and warehousing strategy to support the delivery of goods and services to the organization’s customers. The Supply Chain Manager shall be responsible for keeping the organization at the forefront of the industry with respect to best practices, procedures, and processes helping to create efficiencies and drive out cost from the business.

Job Duties / Responsibility

  • Develop and execute the overall logistics and warehousing strategy liaising with the managers of Procurement, Production, and Customer Service
  • Develop logistical processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management
  • Educate oneself and implement industry best practices in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and fulfillment
  • Develop, implement, and monitor key performance metrics for supply chain, warehousing, transportation, shipping and receiving
  • Lead a team of three Supervisors and ~15 shipper/receivers
  • Organize staff training, development, and performance reviews
  • Manage the departmental staff payroll in Payworks
  • Hiring of warehouse staff for the logistics team
  • Conduct profit and loss management for the company’s supply chain and logistics function; manage logistics budget
  • Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers
  • Work with the inventory planning personnel to minimize shortages and improve inventory positions and turns
  • Work with managerial peers to find labor, workflow, and process efficiencies helping to improve service levels and drive out costs
  • Provide monthly updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiatives
  • Deep understanding of WMS systems, workflows, challenges, and opportunities to drive efficiency in order fulfilment and warehousing
  • Leverage the power of our warehouse management system to find opportunities to create new processes and workflows
  • Constantly seeking new technology, innovations, and systems to help improve productivity and results
  • Provide administration for the warehousing system and regularly review performance expectations
  • Work with the sales team to reduce freight cost for new and existing business
  • Responsible for the maintenance and use of all the forklifts
  • A strong team builder who can galvanize a team creating optimal working conditions for employees and supervisors
  • Communicate and liaise with all 3 Crownhill locations in terms of supply chain and logistics functions
  • Commitment to health and safety within the working environment ensuring employees needs are put first and that the operation meets Provincial and Federal guidelines
  • Actively promotes awareness in health and safety to prevent injuries and accidents
  • Communicate, observe, and execute standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook
  • Meet with the team on weekly basis to discuss current and future business, have open discussions with team

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in Business or Related Field
  • 5-8 years of direct work experience in a supply chain management, logistics, and/or warehousing, preferably within a 3PL environment.
  • Experience managing a 3PL warehouse, e-commerce or omni-channel, considered an asset
  • 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Direct working knowledge of supply chain, operations, warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation management
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and innovative technology in the logistics and warehousing space
  • Experience in managing third-party logistics providers
  • Solid project management skills are essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good financial and business awareness
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Strong customer service orientation

Working Conditions

  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
